Andrew Gourlay

Andrew Gourlay (born 1982) is a British conductor. He is Chief Conductor of the Castile and León Symphony Orchestra (Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León).
==Early life and studies==
Gourlay was born in Jamaica in 1982, and was brought up in the Bahamas, the Philippines, Japan, and the United Kingdom. He is of Russian descent: his great grandmother was the princess Elizaveta Galitzine; his great great grandfather, Alexander Dmitrievich Zinoviev, was Governor of Saint Petersburg at the time of the Revolution of 1905.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Zinoviev A.D. Gourlay began his musical training on the piano and the trombone. As a trombonist in his early twenties, he played with prominent British orchestras, such as the Philhamonia, BBC Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Hallé Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Andrew Gourlay conductor )〕 He was a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, with whom he played under the baton of their founder, Claudio Abbado.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Andrew Gourlay: "Me entusiasma dirigir a la orquesta mas antigua de chile" )
